Tasting Bar Events

We run a regular calendar of events at our tasting bar in the center of the shop. They're informal, walk-up affairs, and have developed a real following in the local Brookland community. You can try some new things, learn a little, and meet some of our other regulars. Most are free — just present your ID at the front counter for a glass — and the general program is:

Wednesdays (every other week), 4-7pm: Wine, chosen with some special theme or focus. These tastings are paid (usually $10) but that comes with a 10% discount on any bottles you buy, and the stock for them is drawn from the higher shelves.

Thursdays, 4-7pm: Beer, sometimes seasonal, or focusing on a particular style or region, or highlighting a favorite brewery or two. Since the beer shelves turn over more frequently, we also regularly highlight new arrivals for their own sake.

Fridays, 4-7pm: Wine, traditionally a selection we simply call 'Five for Friday'; we'll look ahead to the weekend and come up with a set of options for you to share with friends and family (or keep to yourself). In weeks that we release a new Seasonal Six-Pack, we'll also showcase them that Friday.

Saturdays, 3-6pm: Usually more wine, sometimes spirits. Most weekends, the tasting bar is taken over by one of our suppliers, whether that's a maker or distributor, so they can pour samples from their portfolio and introduce themselves more directly.
