Despite our deep cultural reverence for the idea of self-sufficiency and a recurring, probably unhealthy obsession with unilateralism, the USA would not exist as it is today were it not for a fair amount of help from our friends. France, Spain, and the Netherlands all contributed militarily and financially to the success of the American Revolution, and our republican institutions have their roots in the ancient republics of the Italian and Grecian peninsulae.
Now, don't worry. We're not going to bore you with an overly contrived history lesson. This is still a wine tasting meant to help celebrate 249 years of Independence and Excellence, after all. The same way we have benefited from the aid of friends during times of strife, we have also gained much inspiration and know how from older cultures over the years in our never ending pursuit to make better wine. These days, it's not just winemakers in California drawing on French, Spanish, Italian, and Teutonic varietals and methods to find new ways for grapes to express themselves in an American context. That's what this tasting is all about.
Join us this Wednesday, July 2 from 4-7pm as we celebrate the cusp of 2 1/2 centuries with a lineup of wines that show the best of what we do, and the never ending pursuit to make new and better wines. Oh, and Eric is also making a batch of Sangria.
