The Loire is the longest river in France and the Loire Valley wine region stretches all the way from the center of the country to the Atlantic Coast. The varied geology and climatic conditions that are found between those two extremes produce a dizzying variety of excellent wines, from the light, crisp whites of Muscadet, to the deep, earthy reds of Chinon and Saumur.
