The United States' reputation as a wine-producing country is built almost entirely on the vineyards of the West Coast. Between them, California, Washington State, and Oregon account for over 90% of the nation's wine production, with the vast majority of that coming from California, and they claim more than two-thirds of the 273 federally recognized AVAs (American Viticultural Areas), with California again claiming the vast majority.
This is a vast region, with a coastline of almost 1300 miles and a land area of over 200 million acres, and the influences of the Pacific Ocean and the western mountain ranges produce a wide variety of climates and microclimates, from Mediterranean, to hot desert, to alpine tundra, to temperate rainforest. It has attracted migrants from all over the world, who have brought with them the grapes of their native lands and their winemaking traditions. The viticultural result of all this variety is an amazing abundance of excellent wines and distinctive styles for us to enjoy.
Join us on Wednesday, August 14, from 4pm to 7pm to explore some of this abundance!
Tickets for our Wednesday tastings are $15, and the wines are 10% off during the tasting.
