This Sunday, October 29, from 2pm to 5pm, we are honored to host Maria Pato at the tasting bar. The youngest member of the Pato family, she'll be sharing the wines of her father Luis Pato. A winemaker in her own right, Maria comes from a multi-generational family of legendary winemakers in Portugal. The Pato family is to Portuguese wines what the Medici were to Renaissance Florence or the Curies were to nuclear physics. Over three generations, they have worked tirelessly to revive and redefine Portuguese wine traditions. Maria's grandfather João and father Luis were responsible for reviving the winemaking traditions of the Barraida region and bringing international attention to their local varietals like Baga, Bical, and Maria Gomes, while her sister Filipa (whose wines we've had in the store for a while now) has continued their work with her own project focusing on biodynamic farming methods and minimal intervention.
This tasting is a great opportunity to taste some amazing wines and learn more about how they're made and the groundbreaking family that makes them. Join us!
