Meet the Winemaker: Francesco Rosi of Tolaini

We have been working with the wines of the Tolaini estate in Chianti Classico for some time now, and we really love their wines, which is why we're very excited to have a chance to meet the man who makes them! Francesco Rosi will be joining us at the bar on Saturday, January 28, from 3pm-6pm, to pour six of his wines and talk about what makes them special. We hope you'll join us for this opportunity to learn more about some of the best wines of Tuscany from the man who makes them.

The story of Pier Luigi Tolaini, the founder of Tolaini, reads like a Horatio Alger story. At 19, penniless, he left his native Tuscany to seek his fortune in America. Forty years later, he returned to Italy a wealthy man to realize his dream of making great wine. It is a satisfying story that is all the better because it happens to be true. In choosing to return to Tuscany, Pier Luigi evinced a love and respect for the land that is reflected in everything Tolaini does, from tending the land and caring for the vines, to looking after the health and well-being of the vineyard workers, to meticulous winemaking in the cellar.

Francesco Rosi was born and raised in Florence and earned his degree in Enology from the University of Florence in 2004. He spent his early career working for some of Tuscany's most prestigious wineries before joining Tolaini in 2011 as Head Enologist and Manager.
