In much of the world average beer strength is below the 5% ABV that is about standard strength for brews in the U.S. Many American brewers have come around to accept that not only are beers like this viable options, but many customers are actively seeking them out.
The natural response from large-scale brewers is to cut back on both quality and quantity of ingredients and/or outright manipulating beverages into a perceived 'market niche.' This is why craft beer always tastes better. It's likely a contentious statement to some, but I'll stick by it.
This week, from 4-7pm on Thursday, April 7th we will be exploring some beers and breweries who - whether by brewing tradition or intent - have been making some stellar low ABV beers that do not shirk on body, flavor, or texture. The benefit? We can easily get to raise two glasses together instead of just one!
